PITTSFIELD, Mass. June 10, 2015—Hillcrest
Educational Centers, Inc. (HEC) has awarded five area high school seniors each up
to $300 in scholarships. Since 2004,
Hillcrest scholarships have been made available to students of local high
schools in the communities where their agency has programs including, Great
Barrington, Lenox and Pittsfield.
The recipients were asked to complete a competitive essay and
were selected on the basis of academic excellence, community involvement,
extracurricular school activities and character.
HEC also supports local students with a $1,000 contribution
to Scholarship America’s Dollars for Scholars program.
Jerry Burke, President and CEO of HEC emphasizes the
importance of education, especially in the local community. “We constantly strive to support students in
accomplishing their goals and taking the next step in their lives,” he
says. “Every year we are fortunate to be
able to assist such an intelligent and promising group of scholars.”
